PLANNERS/COORDINATORS

Your coordinator will make or break your wedding day. Great coordinators are super organized, share your vision, give recommendations and knowledge as needed, and stick to a great timeline. I’ve had the opportunity to work with bad, good, and great coordinators. The great ones are worth the investment. Relieve yourself or your friends/family of the stress of the day and pay for a great coordinator.

The name of her company says it all. Zilla Free Zone. From Jessie “Don't be fooled by our pretty faces, we LOVE to get our hands dirty so your event is seamless!” I not only have worked with her and loved how she runs the day, she even asked me to photograph her own wedding. I’m still blown away by that. She’s awesome and definitely someone you should check out.

I’ve had the pleasure working with the team on quite a few weddings. They are a dialed team who take their job seriously but will also be smiling 100% of the time and probably crying during all the vows & speeches. Reach out now and hopefully they’re not booked on your date.

CHOICE ENTERTAINMENT - MATT PHIPPS

You can find cheaper DJs in the area, but you can’t find better. He is so passionate about music, about weddings and about creating the perfect evening for you and your guests. A true experienced professional in the sea of kids with spotify playlists. Don’t make the mistake of going cheap with your DJ/AV unless you want your mics to cutout mid vows. Once you meet Matt, you’ll know why I recommend him.

VIDEOGRAPHERS

A NEW VISUAL - COLLIN O’ROURKE

I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside Collin on several projects. He’s one of the few videographers I’ve worked with who has a vision for what he’s trying to create. Most videographers just shadow the photographer and get what they get, which is weird because I’m not directing with video in mind. I love the unique vision Collin has with each wedding and he’s a true professional that’s passionate about his work.

On the last wedding of 2018 I had the pleasure of working alongside this husband & wife power couple. They are so positive, kind, and passionate it was infectious. It wasn’t until after the wedding that I had the chance to stalk their work. I was blown away, they capture weddings with such style and beauty. I’m a huge fan!

If you’re willing to invest even more on video than you are on photos, epic. Here are the two greatest filmmakers in the business in my opinion. I haven’t had the chance to work alongside them yet, but they are the best of the best. Their price range is $5-10K.

Jimmy Finn - just watch this if you want to see his talent.
Max Cutrone - This is my coworker at Hurley’s engagement/elopement. It looks like freaking music video. So cool.

FOOD

MIHO CATERING

I don’t think they’re the cheapest option but they for sure are my favorite. Food at weddings is weird. It’s usually one of the most commented on things by your guests. You’re inviting 100-200+ of your closest friends out to share in your love and hear your vows to each other and they comment on the food. Weird. But I guess we’re all the same, when you’re hungry, you need to be fed. This is an incredible option.

OTHER VENDORS

Unfortunately as a guy, it’s hard for me to know the good and the bad makeup artists and give a true recommendation. I’d ask your planner/coordinator. One tip I would give is to hire a true experienced professional. The ones who are new to the job tend to take too long and throw the entire timeline off, usually meaning less time with your guests and less couples photos. No fun!

As for cake & desserts, I personally pass at all the weddings, otherwise I’d be huge. Hahaha. JK, I just don’t have much of a sweet-tooth. Again, your coordinator and venue will have some good recommendations.

Hopefully these all helped. Good vendors can make your dream day even better than you could have imagined.
